The Staub cast-iron Teapot is a *great* teapot. And it is every bit a work of art. Really, you gotta just hold it in your hands. Since it's made of cast-iron, it's purposely-built on the smaller side so everyone can lift and pour from it easily. Otherwise this thing would be too heavy for regular use. It's the right size folks. No doubt about it.Before buying it, I had serious reservations about it's size and reportedly small, tapered, base. I had read complaints it's instability which worried me a bit since i have small pot that always teeters when placed on a burner. This was my primary concern. BUT NOT THIS STAUB. It's stable and beautiful. Did I mention it looks awesome? While I can empathize with the other reviewers complaints about the narrow bottom, I have found it sufficiently large enough to place on any of the large-gap burners on my 36-in wide, six-burner, gas stove, with *no* tipping or placement incidents. It just works. And I've used it a seven times since it arrived yesterday. It's sufficiently large enough for two cups of tea, maybe three smaller cups.CONS - It's handles do get super hot. They wrap around the ends of the pot and that connection is sufficient enough to conduct heat along the handles. No biggie. Just have a mitt or small towel close by as those handles will get super hot. This is the only negative and its a weak one at that, To me that's not a health/safety risk or show-stopper when you're aware of it in advance. I do a fair bit of cooking on dutch-oven gear on camp-outs, so again, it's not a big deal.If you're sitting on the fence, I'm glad I bought this beautiful tea pot. It works just as I expected.
